Who We Are

Nova Scotia's Premier
Whitetail Outfitter

We're not just guides — we're hunters ourselves. Every one of us chases whitetail with the same obsession our clients have. To be honest, we get more excited putting a client on a deer than we do getting on one ourselves. That passion is what drives everything we do at NS Whitetail Outfitters.

We keep our numbers small on purpose. Fewer hunters means more attention, better stands, and a much higher chance at success. You're not one of twenty — you're one of a handful, and we treat it that way.

Come and see what the Nova Scotia woods has to offer. Those who come once, never stop coming back.

Meet Rob

Founder of NS Whitetail Outfitters and host of the All Tagged Up hunting channel. He's been chasing Nova Scotia whitetail his whole life.

Rob — head guide and founder of NS Whitetail Outfitters
Rob · Head Guide & Founder

Rob isn't a tourism operator — he's a lifelong hunter who decided to share access to the Nova Scotia woods he's spent decades learning. When he's not guiding, he's scouting. When he's not scouting, he's filming for All Tagged Up.

He built NS Whitetail Outfitters on one principle: put the hunter in the right spot at the right time. Small groups, real scouting, guides who are as obsessed with whitetail as you are. Not a volume operation — a genuine hunting experience.

Every stand location has a story. Rob knows the deer that use it, the wind that makes it work, and the week of November when everything lines up. That knowledge is what you're booking.

Why Nova Scotia

The Right Place
For Big Whitetail

Nova Scotia isn't on most hunters' radar. That's exactly why it should be on yours.

01
Low Hunting Pressure

Nova Scotia has dramatically less hunting pressure than most of the eastern US. Mature bucks here have fewer reasons to go nocturnal — they move in daylight, especially during the rut. That changes everything.

02
Island Genetics

Nova Scotia whitetail are an island population with no hunting pressure from the west. Decades of limited access have produced a deer herd with strong body size and heavy antler mass. The bucks here are different.

03
Peak Rut Timing

The rut in Nova Scotia hits hard in November — same window as the rest of the northeast but without the orange army in the woods. When the bucks are on their feet chasing does, you'll be in the right stand at the right time.

Straight From The Hunters

Hunted with NS Whitetail for the first time during rut week and saw deer every single sit. Tagged a 150-class 10-pointer on day four. These guys know exactly where to put you.

First deer hunt ever. Was nervous going in but the guide made everything easy. Shot a nice 8-pointer on morning two. Food was unreal. Already booked again for next fall.

Brought my dad up for his 60th birthday. He connected on a heavy-beamed 12-pointer. The lodge, the meals, the whole experience — this is how it's supposed to be done.

Questions

Asked & Answered

You'll need a valid Nova Scotia hunting license and the appropriate deer tag for your season. We send every booked hunter a complete licensing checklist and walk you through the process — non-residents especially. Don't let paperwork stop you from booking.
Your firearm or bow, hunting clothes appropriate for the season, your license and tags, and personal items. We handle everything else — food, shelter, stands, guides. After booking we send a full gear checklist so you arrive prepared.
Yes. All treestands and ground blinds are pre-set and pre-scouted before you arrive. Your guide will put you in the right location based on conditions, wind, and deer movement patterns. You just need to show up and hunt.
We manage our property for mature bucks. We ask that hunters let young deer walk and hold out for a mature animal. Your guide will help you make the call in the field. This is how we keep the quality of hunts high year after year.
Yes, with advance notice. Non-hunting guests are welcome at the lodge. There may be an additional lodging/meal fee depending on the week. Contact us to discuss.
Deposits are non-refundable but fully interchangeable within one year of your original hunt date, pending availability. If you need to move your dates, reach out and we'll do our best to make it work. We treat people fairly.
US hunters can bring firearms into Canada for hunting purposes with proper declaration at the border. You'll complete a Non-Resident Firearm Declaration form (CAFC 909) at the port of entry. Bows cross without a firearm declaration. After booking, we send every US hunter a complete border crossing guide covering exactly what to expect, what to declare, and how to make it smooth. Don't let this stop you — it's a well-traveled road.
Nova Scotia is accessible from the northeastern US by driving through Maine and crossing into New Brunswick, then taking the Trans-Canada Highway or the Confederation Bridge. Flights into Halifax from major US hubs are typically 1–2 hours. We're happy to coordinate airport pickup and help with logistics for traveling hunters.
All prices on this site are in USD. We accept payment via e-transfer, certified cheque, or money order. The exchange rate often works in your favour as a US hunter — ask us about current rates when you reach out.
